TMS Therapy in Florida
TMS therapy is a new approach to mental health treatment that can lead to transformative growth and deep healing.
How would you live if you felt hope again?
Imagine a life where you wake up feeling hopeful and energized. What would that look like for you? How would your days change if you were no longer weighed down by the burden of anxiety, depression, or past trauma?

For many, traditional treatments don’t provide the relief they need, leaving them feeling stuck in a cycle of frustration. That’s where TMS therapy comes in.
A Breakthrough in Healing: TMS Therapy
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a cutting-edge treatment approach for those who haven’t found success with more traditional mental health treatments. By using targeted magnetic pulses, TMS therapy works on a cellular level to stimulate and rewire the brain, helping to restore balance to areas associated with mood regulation.
TMS therapy is not just about finding relief—it's about rediscovering the hope that can fuel the life you truly want to live.
In TMS psychotherapy with Dr. Mandelkorn you’ll experience not only relief for your nervous system but also practical tools for lasting change. Through integrative therapy, you'll learn how to apply the newfound relief to your everyday life, making it easier to adopt habits that sustain your emotional well-being.
How can transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy help you?
TMS therapy harnesses the power of neuroplasticity—the brain’s remarkable ability to adapt and change. By targeting and stimulating the areas of the brain responsible for regulating mood, TMS "awakens" neural pathways, helping to restore balance. As these pathways become more active, mental health symptoms begin to subside, creating space for therapeutic work to take effect. With this foundation of neurological healing, you’ll be able to make meaningful, lasting changes both in your mind and in your life.

My approach to transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy
When clients come to me for TMS therapy, they have typically tried multiple treatments and found they haven’t helped. I consider it my job to help them take the next step in their treatment process, connecting them with my network of amazing medical prescribers who provide the TMS treatments. At the outset, clients are often discouraged, skeptical, and yet cautiously hopeful, and I work hard to help them understand how TMS therapy will be a different experience that may provide lasting relief.
Through the TMS treatment process, you’ll notice changes in how your mind works. This can be exciting because the changes are typically in the form of symptom relief, but these changes can also be disorienting.
My role as the psychotherapist is to help you make sense of these changes and to integrate them into your understanding of yourself. You may have new access to emotions and memories because of TMS treatment, and it can be crucial to have support as you process these feelings and experiences.
I can also help you find ways to maintain this new brain functioning. After TMS treatment, you may need to re-learn how to get through a day, establish and maintain relationships, work towards goals, or cope with frustration. I can help you develop these skills so your treatment experience can turn into lasting change.
You’ll go through this experience knowing that I care about your success in this process, and from start to finish, I work to make myself accessible to you as you enter into this new chapter of your life.
TMS therapy: a modern method of treating mental health
Dr. Mandelkorn will connect you with a qualified psychiatrist who is trained in TMS therapy, and you’ll visit their clinic for your treatments. Your chosen provider will carefully explain the TMS process, ensuring you understand what to expect at every stage. Below is some general information to help you prepare for the treatment.
TMS and the brain
TMS uses an electromagnetic coil, placed next to the head in specific locations, to send pulses of magnetic energy toward the brain. This energy stimulates nerve cells in the prefrontal cortex, a part of the brain related to mood.
It is also a part of the brain that is typically underactive in people who experience depression.
As this part of your brain becomes more active, it releases neurotransmitters, increasing communication throughout your brain. Through multiple treatments, TMS is thought to help reshape your brain’s connections, for the better.
As TMS treatments open up new pathways in your brain, Dr. Mandelkorn can offer you therapy that guides you in making sense of these new possibilities.
What is a TMS treatment session like?
When you arrive at the clinic where you'll receive TMS treatment, your provider will determine where to position the magnet and what dosage to use to achieve the best results. This process is called "mapping," and it can take up to an hour.
In future treatments, which can last anywhere from 5-20 minutes, you’ll sit in a reclined chair and use earplugs, as the TMS machine can be loud.
The provider and their staff will place the TMS coil on your head and turn it on and off. This will feel like tapping, with some clicking sounds and pauses. Occasionally, some people feel pain from the tapping, but the pain should not remain after the tapping ends.
You can safely resume your day immediately after TMS treatment.
Frequently asked questions about TMS therapy
These are the most frequently asked questions about transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy. If you don’t see your question answered here, please don’t hesitate to contact Dr. Mandelkorn.
How many TMS treatments will I need to do? How many therapy sessions will I need to do?
You’ll likely need around 34 TMS sessions multiple times per week during your treatment. You and your provider will decide on the specific number and schedule for your sessions.
For psychotherapy sessions with Dr. Mandelkorn, the number of sessions will depend on the level of support you need and your goals, which you and Dr. Mandelkorn will discuss before starting TMS, and throughout your treatment process.
I’ve tried therapy and medication before, and they didn’t work. What will be different about this experience?
Traditional approaches to depression treatment involve trialing medication and therapy approaches that may or may not work for you.
TMS therapy is different because the impacts of TMS treatment are immediate. Along with those immediate changes, integrative therapy sessions with Dr. Mandelkorn help you sustain the changes from TMS treatment, and they can help you process emotions and experiences that led to your depression in the first place.
Can magnets and tapping really change my brain?
Yes! While the TMS process may seem minimal from the outside, it can actually change your brain.
The electromagnetic coil that sends magnetic pulses toward your head stimulates the parts of your brain that are underactive in people with depression. By activating these parts of the brain, depression symptoms can fade and your mood and energy levels can increase.
Can I do TMS treatments without therapy?
The therapy component of TMS therapy is essential, and should not be bypassed.
As you adjust to the brain changes that TMS provides, you may find yourself unsure of how to move through life with this new way of experiencing it. Having guidance on how to take this new brain functionality and turn it into lifestyle changes is crucial to ensuring the treatment has a lasting positive effect on you.
Is TMS safe for everyone?
TMS is safe for most people, but if you have permanent metal in your head (barring fillings and braces), TMS is not safe and will not be possible for you.
TMS does have a very small chance of inducing seizures, so it is worthwhile to discuss seizure risk with the TMS treatment provider.
